Trip Leader (ages 6-11)

About the Job

Trip leaders are responsible for day and overnight backpacking, rock climbing, and canoeing trips for the campers living at CMF. This includes, but is not limited to, planning and executing trip logistics like food, timing, group dynamics, van driving, safe decision making, cooking in a wilderness setting, setting up campsites, wilderness medical care, leading and being responsible for all group decisions, effectively communicating with counselors and other staff, adhering to Leave No Trace policies, taking pictures on overnight trips, and being an active member of the camp community when not on overnight trips.

Qualifications

-Wilderness First Aid (WFA) or Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification required (WFR preferred)

-21+ with valid driver’s license required

-Ability to adapt and make safe decisions in potentially strenuous situations due to, but not limited to, weather and medical emergencies

-Able to physically perform and carry out planned itineraries

-Carry large, heavy packs/gear

-Willingness to work with and be around children aged 6-11

-Enthusiasm and good attitude

-Strong communication skills

-Patience and willingness to assist and aid campers

-Ability to prepare meals for large groups in a wilderness setting

-Experience in overnight backpacking and canoeing (experience leading preferred)
