George Chaison-Lapine

George grew up in Portland, Maine, only an hour away from Cragged Mountain. George began his Cragged journey at age 10 in 2008 and immediately fell in love with the camp and the New England wilderness. After being a traditional camper for three years, George completed the culminating Allagash canoe trip, which is still to this day the highlight of all his nature-based and spiritual experiences. In 2014, George returned to camp as a member of the maintenance staff. This summer is especially exciting for George because it is his first time back to camp since the summer of 2014, and his fist time as a counselor.

George is currently 19 years old and is a first-year student at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine. At Bates, George is involved in the weightlifting club and the all-male a cappella ensemble, The Deansmen. As a work study job, he is an English and Math tutor as well as a teachers assistant for kindergarten through third grade at Farwell Elementary School in Lewiston. George is incredibly excited to get back to exploring the mountains, rivers, and lakes of New England, and sharing his passion for the outdoors with his campers!
