Sophie Garbus 2017

Sophie grew up in Greenfield, a small town in Western Massachusetts. She is a classical violinist, soccer player, ultimate frisbee player, and nature enthusiast. Sophie will be attending Colorado College next year. She first came to Cragged Mountain Farm as a toddler in 2002 while her mother was the camp nurse. This summer will be her 16th summer on the farm and third year on staff. The most influential wilderness experience for Sophie was Cragged’s Penobscot trip; a 26-day voyage through the rivers and lakes of Northern Maine. This trip gave her useful skills for surviving in the wilderness as well as invaluable friendships. As a staff member, Sophie hopes to instill in the campers the same confidence, strength and compassion that was instilled in her as a camper.
