Tuesday, July 3rd. Out and About!
Today was our first official day of sending out trips, day and overnight. We are stoked to have so many awesome trips planned for this month. With so many cabins out for the day, camp feels small and is quiet, but we cannot wait to see everyone back in camp tomorrow evening for the 4th!
A Look At The Day
Cabin ZA took off with trip leader Derek for a night on the trail. Tonight they will be at Perch campsite and will be submitting Mount Adams tomorrow before returning.
Cabin 12 departed for the Rocky Branch in the Dry River Wilderness with trip leader Kae. The cabin was excited to hit the trail and get ready for a summer full of peaks!
Cabin 4 had to turn to plan B today for their day trip…. but had a blast! They walked to the lake and spent lunch and the early afternoon swimming and playing games in and around the water.
Cabin Woodshed went on a day hike to Boott Spur and had great views of Mount Washington. Maybe planning a trip to tackle the big one?
Cabin 10 scaled the climbing tower this morning with Max, intermixed with a little Gaga and basketball. In the afternoon they had a ball playing in the warm water at Loon Lake.
Cabin 2 learned fire building skills with Will. they learned how woods burn differently and how to start a fire without a match! They cooled down at the lake in the afternoon.
Cabins 3 and 7 practiced their canoeing skills at Loon Lake in the morning. Learning how to power a canoe is such a fun skill to have and at Cragged it is used often! After lunch, they played field games and did a few arts and crafts. Tonight they will be spending the evening camping at Loon Lake with Lael! Making smores and singing songs, what more could you want on a summer night?
We heard from the Wilderness Group! They are having a great time on the Long Trail and even had time to make moccasins one night. They were able to send some pictures as well. It is awesome to see their smiling faces!
Happy Birthday Ahrdy, Cabin ZA counselor!
